It's a NEW Yoga course for you! You all asked for and need more flowing movement, without over-doing it. This new course is a marveous combination between dynamic movement and long holds.
Hop into Spring & join your AHA Yoga family for this BRAND NEW COURSE, Yoga Flow & Grow. Feel deeply to your bones the physical benefits of yoga and, even more profoundly, reconnect to your inner radiance.
Do you need to calm down but ALSO release nervous tension in the body by applying motion?
Want to feel that deep release--that physical and mental sensation of letting go of strain--even as you dive into flowing movement and regeneration in the body?
Do you desire a yoga practice that combines BOTH a little bit of a CHALLENGING movements and soothing repetition?
Is your body yearning for that sensation of strengthen, alongside stability, and that sense of satisfaction as you notice & feel these enhance over time?
If you want to move the body to move away from habitual seated postures or mis-alignments, and move toward greater fluidity, if you need to tame a racing mind and make it clear and calm yet totally energized, Yoga Flow & Grow is your thing.
Yes, indeed! Then this special combo course will allow you to glide through yoga postures, led by the soothing and smoothing inhale and exhale. You'll learn why and also experience firsthand how letting movement be breath-centered calms the nervous system, anchors mental attention back in the body, brings balance to racing thoughts and ease of mobility back into tight muscles or stiff joints.
Yoga Flow & Grow joins the fluidity and grace of vinyasa practice (linking pose to pose with the breath with continuous movement) alongside pauses of holding classic hatha postures to build bone and muscle mass. It's the perfect balance of opening up and building everything you need.
Each session, you'll learn a DIFFERENT yoga flow sequence, working, opening, and deepening the length of stretches, created by a VINYASA FLOW type of yoga session, while ALSO trying out the specific patience- & endurance-building longer holds to rest as you also build strength. Find out how this sequence of Yoga Flow & Grow feels for YOU. Then, you'll do it again. Then again!
Sustained Movement requires concentration, and by joining forces with the breath, even as you move, it becomes more meditative.
If you like sun salues, this is for you.
If you want to do mandala flows (using EVERY direction of the mat) to improve your proprioception (sensation of the body in space), this new course is just right.
If you've enjoyed moon salutes, you'll love this!
And we have more flows in store too: one-legged lunges and planks gliding into standing balances, gentle back bends, lots of things you never knew you could do without standing too.
In your 75-minutes, this repetition will help you learn the sequence, as well as bring the mental attention back to a grounded presence in the body. As you repeat these gliding postures, led by the breath, each round goes a little deeper. You notice something more. You're present, strong, and enjoying your practice.
You'll be introduced to diaphragmatic breathing & preparing the mind for practice, why it is essential for regulating the nervous system and helps you get deeper into stretches safely and happily.
Where the BREATH goes, there the mind follows. It is important with yoga to let the mind lead; and in this course, this is achieved by way of continous, mindful breathing. The centerpiece of each session is the "VINYASA FLOW," as it is known in the yoga world. "Vinyasa" means "precise placement" and refers in this context to the flowing nature of this yoga sequence, as students move from one pose to the next, coordinated with the breath. These particular sequence is meant to teach the body to move smoothly with the inhale and exhale, without holding or pausing the breath, so that the constant stream of graceful movement soothes the nervous system, fostering greater equilibrium of mental and emotional ease. Focus builds as tension seems to melt away. The breath becomes deeper and smoother, facing less resistance, and, in turn, the muscles begin to lengthen as well as strengthen.
All levels are welcome, whether you are a beginner or have years of experience. Even those totally new to yoga can enjoy this series and take these skills into their daily lives.
For Yoga Flow & Grow,
you do need basic mobility and the capacity to get up and down from the floor easily & relatively quickly. (& HEY: If getting up and down
is a challenge, or you need some TLC after an injury, or just need something SUPER gentle to support mobility, then we got you covered. We DO have something that might be YOUR cup of tea,
EASY YOGA; check that out here.)
With the new course Yoga Flow & Grow, you 'll work the body to remove the obstructions of muscular tension as well as mental gripping, sluggishness, and dispersal. In their place, you'll cultivate inner spaciousness as well as one-pointed mental absorption. Thus, it is as important to practice discipline of your thoughts--what you say, do, and consume--and this course fosters that rich and significant process.
Each week, you'll also wrap up and slow down with gentle cool-down practice, including slower hip-openers like Kapotasana (Pigeon Pose) in different variations, such as the backbend or forward bend version, and also add deeper twists and VERY gentle, restful inversions (like supported bridge). This helps "bring home" all of the movement and holds of the previous sequence so that he body cools down and the mind gathers its inward focus.
Of course, this session then settles us down for a long and luscious guided systematic relaxation (the best part!). You'll definitely go deeper in relaxation--perhaps even to a more meditative state!--after the building heat from graceful, sustained movement, plus longer, well-positioned holds, and release of the yoga flow of Yoga Flow & Grow.
