This is a special ONE DAY ONLY 60-minute session so you can sample the most thorough course offered at AHA Yoga,
Yoga for Strength & Vitality. Read more about this full, integrative Fall Term 2019 yoga course
here!
YOGA for Strength and Vitality is one of my signature course, and integrates many branches of yoga practice. You'll cover classic yoga postures at a gentle pace, and we often add fun variations, moving in and out of classic poses into different shapes. This allows us to gradually loosen gripping and feel deeper into poses, and it also cultivates more breath awareness so that we initiate movement with the breath, rather than the other way around.
It is this sort of progressive sequencing and breath awareness that calms the nervous system systematically and, in turn, releases the muscles. Breath-centered practice is simply a LIFE-CHANGER toward enhanced & lasting wellness.
Note that this special Single Session is offered for a $8 SAVINGS on the usual Casual Class usual rate, and the EARLY BIRD on-line pre-registration saves you $5!
Everything is cued for you, with many demonstrations, and you are encouraged to go at your own pace. It is a very friendly, non-intimidating group & environment. It is one of my most inspiring curricula to keep you on your toes, so everyone stays motivated and give it their best
In this special one-hour taster session, we'll explore leg strength and stretching, dynamically transitioning between Virabhasana 1 (Warrior 1) and Parsvottanasna (Pyramid Pose), as well as some shoulder variations as we transition in and out of Virabhadrasana 3 (Warrior 3).
Even more importantly than any posture, we'll begin to feel from the inside out how to enhance inner awareness, and move from the lower core of the body, rather than from focusing externally and from the extremities. This is a crucial point for healthy and stable alignment, not only in yoga practice, but to move with more strength & vitality each and every day throughout our daily tasks.
You'll also explore arm variations while in Utkatasana (Fierce pose, aka Chair Pose), and we'll continue focusing on shoulder opening as well as leg strength in different ways to practice easy Ardha Bhekasana (Frog Pose).
This is an ALL Levels class, so I teach it in the "bus stop" method, providing many choices of how to make a practice easier or more challenging. Within THIS taster sequence, in addition to many other asana (yoga postures), we'll play with Chapasana, or "Sugar Cane Pose." We'll practice using all sorts of props--especially blocks--o find the shapes that work just right for you.
This taster provides you a very
solid experience of what our regular,
progressive practice of
Yoga for Strength & Vitality includes.
Longer holds of postures and adding
movement variations as well as different versions of the same or similar poses--and introducing new postures--help the body
stretch and open.
Additionally, this attention to anatomic detail helps soothe and lovingly discipline the mind by providing it a very concrete focal point within the body which, in turn, helps generate a more meditative state. This is where yoga's truest healing potential and more resides.
Of course, this session will also include a guided systematic relaxation, which is where the most benefits of practice are integrated. You'll leave feeling more open, steady, and soothed.
And, remember: This is about an investment in you. This special taster Single Session is offered for an EARLY BIRD prices of an $8 SAVINGS on the usual Casual Class rate (or $20 at the door, a $3 savings), AND it gives YOU the chance to find the AHA Yoga course that fits YOUR needs and goals. Come try it out and feel greeeeat while you also have fun, then RELAX.
