COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Harnessing your energy begins the moment you walk through the door!
Doors open an HOUR early so each of you receives personalized attention for a "Gating Ceremony," an essential practice for alchemizing your energy, AND making your practice time more powerful.
You receive 3 to 5 minutes for a few moments of one-on-one with your teacher Virginia, to get centered, connect, and breathe. This rich moment allows you to contemplate what you are ready to leave behind because it is complete or drains your energy, and what you desire to cultivate. You'll release mental & energetic burdens, and become more focused & better resourced, to foster your best self. This energetic attunement alone is worth the price of admission, as it quickens the process of harnessing and refining your energy.
Then, we come together as a group and shift our energy inward, shifting from what drains us, and placing our most crucial resource - Attention - on what matters. Virginia guides a visualization to open our sacred circle, and you attune to how you are feeling and focus on your own innate wisdom.
This simple act of creating intentional, focused, and shared space makes the entire practice more potent & benefits more lasting. (Plus, both of these techniques are wonderful tools to integrate in your daily life for energy amplification.) You'll also experience an ancient yogic mantra for togetherness & harmony; this, too, directs & fuels our abilities to draw focus inward.
Each week, you'll explore deeper into subtle anatomy, the energetic maps & methods of both tantric yoga and Daoist alchemy. These reflective practices are crucial to understanding what and how to move within practice and, more importantly, how to become more aware and equipped to release or amplify energies throughout your daily lives, and HOW.
Topics include:
- the subtle layers of being according to yogic anatomy;
- the vayus (winds of change) to gather, collect, and move energy;
- the triple burner system to better assimilate fuel;
- the microcosmic orbit to circulate energy; and
- marma stanas (vital points), the major chakras, & lesser-known energy points.
In addition, each week provides you tips to further your energy alchemy everyday, so you build & maintain your own energy field & environment to support physical, emotional, and spiritual health, including:
- Grounding & Expansion;
- Navigating liminal spaces & transitions;
- Cleansing the physical and energetic body;
- Caring for your Home;
- and various methods of energetic Protection.
Each week's physical practice (asana) will differ, based on the energetic lessons we're embodying, and based on your precise needs.
In weeks 1 and 2, you'll do tons of grounding exercises to increase strength & awareness at the core (especially the pelvic floor), as well as tons of stretches for the hips. It's all about using tension to RELEASE stress and stuck-ness. We'll also learn how to gather scattered energies, and sync movement with the breath to balance the nervous system AND reboot the mind with lots of physical balance postures.
You'll experiences long holds for strengthening the body as well as increasing mental prowess, and learn to tune into more and more inner subtleties. The deepest yogic acceleration often happens in the pauses and accompanying guided contemplations; these allow for expanding awareness, because the most advanced yoga unfolds in stillness.
In Weeks 2 & 3, we'll continue to work the core, now with an emphasis on integrating, circulating, and AMPLIFYING energies. This means you'll get to explore many more yogic flows, moving from stretch to shake, to upward and downward, to lateral shapes and twisting enlivening, to lengthening and play. You'll get demos and tons of guidance and explanations, not just anatomic descriptions, but also rarer esoteric wisdom about accessing your own innate yet latent life force, what is known as xi (chi) or prana.
Sequences are always catered to what you need on THAT day, whether that means clearing out mental clutter, destressing from work, tending injuries or recoveries, or pushing the limits of places you desire to revitalize.
This is perfect for absolute beginners as well as advanced yoga practitioners. You'll be provided many variations and modification of more classic postures, to provide your physical and energetic layers just what they need, at that precise time and place. We encourage the use of props as well as play - try different things out! This series does require the ability to be on your hands and knees, and to get up and down from the floor.
You'll also learn additional ways to concentrate and direct your prana shakti, your awakened lifeforce, in each asana (yogic posture or seat) and movement, a process that you will continue to refine and feel the nuances during the final three and most important, rich parts of our immersion together:
Guided systematic relaxation, pranayama (breath expansion), & meditation. It is here that the yoga begins, where you begin to make way into latent energy.
Most group yoga classes end where the yoga begins. In this immersion, we have an extended time together, so you receive detailed instruction in more advanced breathing techniques to not only calm but also stimulate energies. Each week builds on the previous week. It is here that the alchemy shifts to a transformative level.
Finally, having cleared, strengthened, revitalized, gathered, and directed your innermost subtle energies, we arrive at a state of meditation where you enhance your abilities to feel, notice, and stay present.
You are guided & supported throughout the whole process, while also being given space to access your innermost wisdom, potential, power. Over time, you'll find access to more freedom, possibility, and, ultimately, easeful surrender to vast & nurturing grace.
This entire course and each sequence is lovingly designed and curated to help you awaken to your own innate depth and greatness, while also fine tuning perception, the reality that you are supported and nourished by powers far wider than our limited bodies and individual minds. This is process of energy alchemy - yoga which leads to a brighter world, where you are very much needed and cherished.
Gentle reminder to BRING A YOGA MAT: Yoga mats are REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THESE SESSIONS. Chairs and other props will be provided.
