Fire in the Belly: Yoga WORKSHOP for Clarity & Creativity,

September 22 (Sunday)
at 2:00 pm

Class length
135 minutes

Need more energy, enthusiasm, and clarity? Come activate your core, the hub of creative potential and confidence.

This workshop builds awareness as well as strength in the pelvic and abdominal area.  This region is your center of power, not only physical strength and stamina, but also radiant life energy, what in yoga is called “prana.”  Prana is the vital, essential life force that generates joy, passion, and determination. It is the key to vibrant good health, as well as healing and the power of transformation.  “Fire in Your Belly” provides you access to simple yet powerful techniques that help you re-ignite your own sense of clarity.  By releasing all sorts of physical tension as well as mental sluggishness or confusion, working the belly also open you up to your creativity and reserves of fortitude, insight, and pleasure.

These wonderful hours together will include a dynamic practice that invigorates the lower regions, from the pelvic area to the navel and up to the lower ribs.  We’ll utilize postures such as Makarasana (Alligator Pose), as well as many variations of Navasana (“Boat Pose”), both prone boat, as well as strengthening twists.  You'll also do easy yet deeply effective leg lifts to strengthen and balance the inner and outer thighs, so the hips and core are better supported.

Enjoy moving through empowering standing poses, a tiptoe balance, a deep squat (malasana), slow and mindful leg lifts, reverse table, Marichyasna (seated twists), and much more.

You’ll also play with Agni Sara, or “fire essence” to churn out what has been holding you down, and stroke those inner fires that reside in the abdomen.

Moreover, we'll learn how recent research on Gut Health--including probiotics as well as PRE-biotics--aligns with traditional ayurvedic medicine (the sister science of yoga).  You will learn about "Triphala," a traditional Indian remedy, one of the most recommended dietary supports in ayurveda, for belly health in those times when you might need more support and attentiveness to the digestive tract, for not only cleansing but also nourishing, so your system lets go of depletion and, instead, makes the most out of your diet and exercise so you are better supported and energized.

In addition, this session will introduce you to the idea of the “kanda” or bulb, a potent source of energy, that yogic texts describe as inhabiting this region.  It is a source of energy as well as innate intelligence, and yogic practices foster its awakening.  Like a bulb found in your blossoming garden, this inner source can also be accessed to provide you renewed and ever-renewing source of nourishment.  The kanda will be explored through many seated postures, the foundation of a classic, well-rounded, and attentive yoga practice.

This afternoon of yogic delights will also give you a rare chance to really learn and absorb the benefits of powerful abdominal pranayama (breath practices) including Kapalabhati and Bhastrika.

Most importantly--OF COURSE!--you'll have the opportunity to deeply relax in a systematic, lusciously beneficial way, in order to rest as well as nurture all of that abdominal and mental effort, letting the breath's intelligence support and guide your quiet and now clear mind.

Attentiveness to the abdomen helps you cultivate the favorable conditions that accentuate clear thinking and masterfully guide your emotions.  In addition, working with this region also supports you in releasing mental chaos and attending those places and thoughts where you might experience energy leakage.  Reversing such habits, you’ll build a strong container of body and mind.  So after your cool-down, both the relaxation & meditation time will help you clear away mental blocks.

You'll experience deep release as your body rests and mind unwinds within the guidance of a relaxation aimed at balancing your breath's and mind's cyclic process of nourishing and cleansing.  This guided relaxation fosters a sense of inner ease and balance, igniting the body-mind's capacity to heal.

You'll also cultivate more clarity and creativity with a systematic guided meditation aimed specifically at enhancing clarity and accessing creativity from deep in the fire of your belly.

Come join us for “FIRE IN YOUR BELLY” and unleash your own clarity, creativity, and deeply rooted contentment.

Experience and nurture your own lasting, meaningful, and true beauty and purpose.
