Have you heard about yoga, but are not sure where to start?

Are you ready to experience gentle work leading to deep release so you return to your day feeling a little lighter, brighter, and more open?

Of course.  Then this special event is the thing for you.

YOGA BASICS is a wonderful doorway to yoga practice here at AHA Yoga and a good foundation for yoga practice ANYWHERE.  Come find out what a full yet basic Yoga Practice entails.  This is a special ONE DAY ONLY 90-minute WORKSHOP so you can sample the most popular 10-week course at AHA Yoga, YOGA for BEGINNERS.  This workshop is a good survey & lets you give the practice whirl to find out what works for YOU.

You'll be introduced to diaphragmatic breathing, why it is essential for regulating the nervous system and helps you get deeper into stretches safely and happily.  We'll explore how and why this physical practice helps activate the rest and digest response.  Together you will be lead through a simple yet effective sequence, including easy warm ups to wake-up the muscles and joints, and sync breath with movement.  You will learn basic yoga postures along with many variations to make each shape comfortable for YOUR body.  You'll learn all about different lunges, how to open the hips, different arm positions to open the shoulders, and how to safely strengthen the back and the abdominal muscles.  You'll also practice Virabhasdrasana 2--or Warrior 2--and Adho Mukha Svanasana--or Downward Facing Dog, two of the most well-known yoga asana (postures).

We'll then wrap up and slow down with gentle cool-down practice, then settle down for a long and luscious guided systematic relaxation (the best part!)

In this evening workshop, you'll also explore different yoga props and learn how and why they help your alignment, add stability and comfort, and help release tension.  You'll be introduced to a myriad of components that are part of my full 10-week course, Yoga for Beginners, the most popular offering here at AHA Yoga. This special workshop allows you to sample my teaching style, learn a bit about WHY we practice what we do, and HOW to do basic poses confidently as well as how to make TRANSITIONS between postures easier.  Most importantly you will be exposed to breath-work and how relaxation is one of the most enjoyable and beneficial goals of yoga practice.

Come experience a FULL SAMPLING during this one-day only offer:  Note that this special Single Session Workshop is offered for $20, a $5 SAVINGS on the usual Workshop Price, and $3 savings off of the regular single Casual Class rate ($23).

Note YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN YOGA MAT.  If you use a studio mat, mat rental is $2 and you are responsible for sanitizing it after use.  All other props--bolsters, blocks, straps, eye pillows, sandbags, and more--are included at the studio for your use.

This is a chance to check out the new AHA Yoga studio space--right on the tranquil Lake DeSoto!--and see if this is the community and practice just for you.
