Class Description: While we typically present obstacles on the dog’s natural path in intro-level courses, that is not always how our dogs will run. This is where backsides and threadles come in! These skills are tricky, because we are asking our dogs to come off their natural path to take the obstacle from the non-obvious side (landing-side approach). Threadles in particular are especially difficult as you often aren’t in a position to help change your dog’s natural path! The concept of passing by an obstacle only to take it from the other side is difficult to teach to a dog, but these skills are becoming increasingly important to have in many competition courses.
This workshop will work on developing the skills you need to create more independence with each of these skills. We will also work on analyzing and practicing short sequences sequences to determine the best way to handle your individual dog!
