May 30 (Friday)
at 4:30 pm

Class length
120 minutes

Location
Sports Annex - 5401 N Wolcott Ave (2 Blocks East of Main Facility)

Have you heard about this fun and easy racing event but don’t really know what it entails and have questions like: Is it the right environment or sport for my dog? How do I get started? What does a trial look like? Are there things I can practice? This workshop will help answer all of the whats and hows of Fast CAT and short of running an actual run, we will practice all of the things leading up to the moment your dog takes off after the “trash bunny”.

● Testing your dog’s drive for a lure (informally called a trash bunny because yep!, it’s a plastic trash bag)

● Ways to get your dog comfortable with being held, set up at a start line, and released by an unfamiliar person or their still beloved but perhaps slightly less favorite human

● Waiting in a queue near other dogs

● The check in process

Pre-reqs

Dogs must be:

● At least 6 months old

● Able to be crated between turns

● Able to wait in a line in close proximity to other dogs on leash

● Able to be approached, touched, and held by leash by an unfamiliar person (the trainer). The exception to this would be having a partner come along that the dog will be comfortable being handled by in these ways.

What to bring:

● Flat buckle collar. This can be worn or brought in addition to your dog’s usual gear. We will only be using it for the release training piece

● Two standard leashes (no retractable leashes or long lines)

● Treats and if your dog has a favorite toy that is not a squeaky toy

Duration: 2 Hours

Max # of Dogs: 8
