Cleaning Fee & Note About Potty Training

Please note there is a $20 cleaning fee for dogs who pee and/or poop inside our Sports Annex. The annex is an all turf facility so clean-up from accidents requires our staff to stop class and use special cleaning implements to ensure no damage is done to the turf while still removing any urine/excrement and lingering odor. Please respect the training ring and potty your pooch before entering the training area.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is there parking at the Urban Pooch Sports Annex (5401 N Wolcott Ave location)?

A: There is a small parking lot at our Sports Annex location. This parking lot is shared with a few other businesses, but no spots are designated for any particular business--so you may park in any open space. However, it is common for this parking lot to be filled during busy times of day. There is ample and easy street parking on Balmoral Ave and Wolcott Ave. Please note there are a few sections on these streets that require special zoning stickers. So please pay attention to where you park.

Q: How many people are allowed to attend class?

A: We allow a max of 2 people per dog to attend class. So if you want to bring your partner, friend, or other guest, please feel free to do so. However, for the sake of safety and space restrictions, we cannot allow more than 2 people to come with their dog in a group class.

Q: Are children allowed to participate?

A: To ensure the safety, comfort, and attention of all our students, human and canine, children 5 and under are not permitted in group classes. School age children 6-12 are allowed to attend as one of 2 people per dog, and may be able to participate but should be prepared to observe quietly depending on the situation. The adult must hold the leash on the way in and out of class and in the retail area. Young adults 13-17 are encouraged to attend and actively participate in training, and may be given permission to bring the dog to class by themselves on a case-by-case basis.

Q: Where should I go when I arrive?

A: For class, you may wait in the lobby of the Annex behind the white gate. If your dog is reactive or just needs more space, it may be best to wait in your car or just outside the lobby while you wait. PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE TURF TRAINING AREA UNTIL YOUR INSTRUCTOR INVITES YOU INTO THE ARENA. This is for the safety of our 2-legged and 4-legged students. Please also make sure you give enough room to students exiting the previous class.

Q: What if I'm late?

A: Unfortunately we cannot allow entry later than 10 minutes into a 45-minute session. If you arrive within that grace period, we will do our best to get you into class with the least disruption possible. For classes at our Sports Annex, please wait in the lobby for the instructor to choose the best time to bring you in.

Q: What should I wear to class?

A: Wear comfortable clothing and secure footwear that allows you to play with your dog, sit on the floor, and run backwards.

Please note We cannot permit shoes that are wet, dirty and/or covered in snow and salt onto our turf.  Weather in Chicago can often be unpredictable so we ask that you bring an extra, clean pair of shoes with you to class. If you have forgotten an extra pair of shoes, you will need to leave your outdoor shoes in the waiting area while you are in class. Feel free to run the course in your socks if that is easiest!
