Cheap Art Club: Book Binding
with Sam Hallowell

August 31 (Monday)
at 7:00 pm

Class length
90 minutes

This workshop is designed for beginners and folks looking to sharpen their basic book binding skills. Whether you want to make your own journals, bind a zine, repair an out-of-shape book, or just add another neat skill to your toolbelt, this workshop is for you! We'll be working with basic (and cheap!) materials that can be found in your art supplies stache (or ours- we're happy to share!) Included in class registration is an instructional zine so you can revisit the process later.
------------
Come comfy, bring a snack (or something to share!), and get ready to play, explore, and make something — anything!

Cheap Art Club is all about that grade school art class energy — carefree, fun, and judgment-free. We focus on the process, not the product.*

Using low/no-cost, recycled, and rescued materials, we’ll create art that’s for everyone — not for profit. Inspired by the Cheap Art Manifesto from Bread + Puppet Theater (because art should be accessible, joyful, and weird).

👩‍🎨 Meet Your Instructor: Sam
Sam is a multimedia artist, sporadic but enthusiastic reader, lifelong learner (college drop-out), and organizer for Bath Pride. Pre-pandemic, she studied book arts, printmaking, integrative health, and communications at the University of Southern Maine in Portland.

Her lifelong dream? To become an art teacher — higher education be damned! Sam’s passions include community building, stationery, placemaking, baking, social justice, and tracking down the best Reuben in the Midcoast. She lives in Woolwich with her adopted cat, Sage, her boyfriend, and a lovingly neglected collection of unread nonfiction books. 📚🐈
