Sound Bath: Fundraiser for Maine Access Points
with Vanessa Bresson

April 18 (Saturday)
at 2:30 pm

Class length
60 minutes

Join us for a Sound Bath fundraiser for our neighbors at Maine Access Points!

Vanessa will use Bronze Tibetan singing bowls, tongue drum, vocal toning and crystal bowls to create healing and transformation in the body and mind.  Participants will be on the floor; blankets, bolsters and mats are available to you but feel free to bring your favorites.

About Maine Access Points:

Our mission is to recognize the resiliency of people who use drugs and to work in collaboration to create access points for overdose prevention and harm reduction services in Maine.

A message from MAP about the fundraiser:

Underlying the harm reduction movement is the belief that all people have the innate ability to heal, wherever they are starting from.

Too often the dominant wellness culture seems to subtly communicate that healing practices are mainly for people who are already more or less well. You must be *this* flexible to benefit at all from yoga, you must be able to sit still without fidgeting for *this* long to gain anything from practicing meditation. Sometimes these spaces function to preserve the comfort and sense of superiority of the privileged rather than bringing needed peace to people who are grieving, struggling, and in true need of nervous system support.

We are so grateful to be part of this collaboration between Vanessa and Electric Cottage Collective, and for the opportunity to bring the gift of sound healing to our community.

If you use drugs,

If you love someone who uses drugs,

If you've lost someone who used drugs,

This space is for you.

We will have free naloxone kits and fentanyl test strips available for anyone who would like them. If you would like to know more about our services, Oliver, our Director of Community Engagement, will be available after the sound bath.

About the facilitator:
Vanessa Bresson is a Reiki attuned, IASH certified Sound Practitioner located in Freeport Maine utilizing and blending Sonic Embodiment Experience by way of vocal toning/singing, Tibetan Bowl Sound Massage, ringing and singing Crystal bowls and more.  Vanessa blends sounds, vibration and notes intuitively on the road to invoke others innate ability to heal themselves.  She moves through her creative practice partnering with beloved yoga teachers to bring nervous-system restoring sessions in class and 1:1 bespoke sessions.

Vanessa's path to supporting others is irrevocably intertwined with her own healing journey with music which began as a young child.  The sound of her own voice became her constant comrade through thick and thin to bring her a balm for a tough world.  She furthered upon exploration of her own self-healing in the early 2000s at a small Liberal Arts college in Vermont.  Beginning in the curiosity of discomfort by way of her first yoga pose, these roots of exploration in spending time with herself in different ways of being and of thought grew into the building blocks of a new way of existing.  She feels that we are to one another antidote and medicine and that small, loving acts of care can catalyze into new ways of loving ourselves and the world.
