Make Your Own Sketchbook
Come to Consistent Craft this month to learn how to make your own sketchbook! We'll be learning how to make sketchbooks bound with metal book rings (which will be provided). These sketchbooks are expandable, customizable, and reusable - a great form for personalized creative experimentation.
We will provide supplies for this class but if you have them available please bring any paper you might like to use in your sketchbook (both decorative paper for your sketchbook cover and paper you'd like to use inside your sketchbook) as well as non-corrugated cardboard or paperboard for your sketchbook cover (something as simple as a cereal box would work).
This workshop is about *the practice* and about creating creative work over time - to be engaged in the art of making consistently - whatever that might look like for you. No one at Consistent Craft is going to tell you to get up every. single. morning. at 5AM to bust out 5 pages of writing or tell you you need to draw something every single day no matter what is going on in your life.
The hope is we can get together and help you figure out how to bring art and writing into your life in a way that actually makes sense to you and makes you feel better, not worse, about practicing.
Expect classes to include generative methods to fall back on when you're stuck, writing exercises to engage with your own creative processes, and lots of chatting with other creative folks who are all in on the practice just like you! Sharing is always optional, feedback on work is given only with the express consent of the artist or writer - really we're here to make work that can be *just for you*.
