Last month in Consistent Craft we talked about the pitfalls of starting things! Fear of things not turning out the way we want them to, trepidation about encountering ourselves in the process of making, and thoughts about how we don’t have the exact right tool or set up to execute something…
This month we’re talking about finishing things! We’ll see how some of these same threads reveal themselves but on the back end of projects. And we’ll be talking through how to manage them when they arise!Bring a sketchbook or journal you started but never finished. Bring a project that just needs a few more steps.
Do you have a fresh notebook you've been scared to start using? A few stickers you're afraid to place? Maybe some really nice paper that you're convinced you're going to "mess up"? Bring it all with you to the very first Consistent Craft! We'll talk through all the things that keep us from just getting started and we'll do a few exercises to help us take the leap!
This workshop is about *the practice* and about creating creative work over time - to be engaged in the art of making consistently - whatever that might look like for you. No one at Consistent Craft is going to tell you to get up every. single. morning. at 5AM to bust out 5 pages of writing or tell you you need to draw something every single day no matter what is going on in your life.
The hope is we can get together and help you figure out how to bring art and writing into your life in a way that actually makes sense to you and makes you feel better, not worse, about practicing.
Expect classes to include generative methods to fall back on when you're stuck, writing exercises to engage with your own creative processes, and lots of chatting with other creative folks who are all in on the practice just like you! Sharing is always optional, feedback on work is given only with the express consent of the artist or writer - really we're here to make work that can be *just for you*.
