In Aerial Yin we combine Yin Yoga with Aerial Yoga, by working with an Aerial swing
that is low and close to the floor. Just like in traditional Yin Yoga we will mindfully
work with seated and lying postures. Each pose will be held from 3-5 minutes to
optimise not only the physical, but also the mental, emotional and energetic benefits.
The physical focus in Yin Yoga is on the deepest layers: the connective tissues -
fascia, ligaments, joints, cartilage - and the bones. With the stillness of the
body, we will quiet the mind and go on an inward journey. Meanwhile the Yin
stretches work as a form of acupressure, stimulating our meridians and energy
points.
The Aerial swing will provide support, while also improving flexibility and range of
motion. It takes pressure off certain areas of the body, allowing you to go deeper into
the pose. It is particularly useful in restoring and maintaining spinal health. The touch
of the hammock helps reduce stress levels and releases mood lifting hormones.
To make sure poses are accessible to everyone, we also use more traditional props
as bolsters and blankets.
