Summer’s Joy!: Exploring the Fire Element with Chinese Medicine & Yin Yoga Workshop
with Jennifer Nuncio

June 7 (Sunday)
at 9:15 am

Class length
135 minutes

Summer is the height of yang energy making it the warmest, most expansive time of the year. In this workshop, Jennifer Nuncio, local acupuncturist, and Sara Lentz, yin yoga instructor, offer teachings about the Fire Element and its virtues and functions within each of us. We’ll practice yin yoga poses that connect and awaken the acupuncture meridians of the Fire Element - heart, small intestine, triple burner, and heart protector.  We’ll then wind down in extended savasana with a simple ear acupuncture protocol to go further inward. Fire brings themes of joy, love, connection, and ease - we’ll be in relationship to these attributes and make space to pay attention to the human experience when these are out of balance.

This is the first in a series of workshops to be offered seasonally in accordance with the Five Elements - Fire (summer), Earth (late summer), Metal (fall), Water (winter), and Wood (spring).  We’ll discuss the elements, the associated meridians, and seasonal practices from the wisdom of Chinese medicine, specifically Classical or Taoist Five-Element Acupuncture. Yin yoga is a restorative practice that is inspired by the meridian system of acupuncture and Taoist teachings. Sara Lentz (ECC Yin Yoga teacher) and Jennifer Nuncio of Qi Cottage Acupuncture are excited to bring these two related systems of healing into one offering.
