Join Yoga Outreach for an incredible 3-day Trauma-Informed Yoga Training!

This training is suitable for any movement instructors and/or yoga teachers who are looking for ways to better serve their students or are looking to teach in social service settings with marginalized populations.

Our trauma-informed yoga training is interactive with a very large experiential component designed to empower and equip qualified yoga teachers with the skills to build trauma-informed yoga classes for individuals facing multiple barriers, including domestic violence, PTSD, addictions, incarceration, and mental illness.

During this workshop you will:

Develop an understanding in:
• The effects of trauma and post-traumatic stress.
• How to create a safe space for your students.
• The power, and use, of “invitational language” and “the language of inquiry.”
• Understanding and managing potential triggers.
• The teaching tools for self-regulation.

Learn to create a strengths-based practice for your students, through understanding the definitions & key components of:
• Boundaries and self-care.
• Equality, marginalization, and privilege.

Know more about teaching in Social Service Yoga Settings, including:
• What to expect: building rapport, mandates, and responsibilities.
• Opportunities for practicum, volunteer placement, and on-going mentorship.

Tuition $360 or $310 if registered more than 3 weeks in advance.

Please note that all proceeds from this training go directly towards providing weekly trauma-informed yoga within mental health programs, addictions recovery centres, prisons, Transition Houses, youth centres, and other social service centres across British Columbia.

"I took part in the training in 2014 and I thought it was absolutely invaluable. As a yoga instructor, I want to be aware of who might be coming to my class and what they may be dealing with. Yoga Outreach provides the language and education necessary to teach not only the general population, but also those who may be dealing with trauma or other mental health issues."

In 2010, Sarah began training in Trauma-Sensitive Yoga at the Trauma Center in Brookline, MA, facility under the directorship of Bessel Van der Kolk.
