To begin, stand at the top of your mat in an aligned, steady stance. Step one leg back, opening the foot angle to a comfortable position where you can keep your hips and shoulders facing forward. If you twist in your spine, perhaps you have stepped too far back.

Slowly lift your arms overhead, and hold for as many breaths as you feel comfortable, maybe one, maybe 4. Return to the top of your mat and repeat on the other side.
