The Autumnal Equinox marks the end of summer and its fiery Yang energy and begins the transition towards the quieter, cooler Yin season of winter. It is the perfect time to take some time to meet yourself where you are, turn inward and embrace the dark, lunar sides of our lives. This Yin Yoga practice celebrates our fire while transitioning us toward focusing on our roots. Expect the practice to begin softly with a restorative pose and pranayama, breath practice, move into yin poses and then back to softness and a L-O-N-G savasana with sound bath.
Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga that focuses on holding poses for longer durations, typically several minutes using props to hold us in an appropriate level of sensation, to target the connective tissues (fascia, ligaments, and joints). It's a complementary practice to more dynamic, yang-style yoga and aims to improve flexibility, circulation, and range of motion.
