Join Kelly for a special all-level vinyasa donation class with all proceeds benefitting Garden of Hope in Kenya, Africa!
The Garden of Hope Children’s Centre is located in the heart of Kibera, the 5th largest slum in the world located in Nairobi. The centre was started in 2015 and the building constructed in 2017 to serve children who have lost a parent or both parents or lives have been affected as a result of HIV/AIDS, poverty, corruption, periodic violence and contagious diseases due to environmental pollution! The centre feeds, educates all the children, many who would not eat if they did not attend the school.
Of all the 388 children served at the centre 96 are orphans yet only 11 orphans can sleep at the residence. The rest of the 85 kids sleep at relative’s, friend’s and volunteer teacher’s homes. Support is needed to house additional children at the orphanage. The needs we are focusing on supporting now are listed below:
Additional Beds/Mattresses for Resident Children
Additional Tables for Cafeteria
A Stove for the Kitchen (meals are prepared in pots over wood fires)
Additional Desks (current 5 – 6 student ratio per desk designed for 2 - 3 students)
Your donations will be put to good use. Past donations have allowed us purchase beds, mattresses, tables, water storage tank and connect to running water. More information on the Centre is available upon request. Suggested donation is $10-$15.
