Workshop

Krishnamacharya, known as the ‘father’ of modern yoga, called Shoulderstand the “Queen” of poses.

In this fun, but carefully instructed, two-hour workshop, designed for students, trainees and teachers alike, you will learn why Shoulderstand was traditionally seen as key yoga poses by Krishnamacharya, Jois and Iyengar, and how to perform or teach it safely. You will learn:

• The correct set up for safety and efficacy

• How to modify them for those with neck and other issues

• How to use props to enhance the pose

• The many variations for Sarvangasana

• Where they sequence in a yoga class

It is important to note that no one will be pressured to go beyond their comfort level in performing these poses.

Purchase this single workshop or the combo to include Headstands here.

This workshop is for regular yoga practitioners, advanced practitioners, yoga trainees and teachers alike. However, no experience with headstands is necessary. This workshop is offered in-studio only and all required yoga props will be provided; however, please bring your own yoga mat.

Presenter Rob Walker (E-RYT 500) author of The New Yoga, from Cult and Dogma to Science and Sanity, has taught headstand, shoulderstand and variations safely for 24 years to hundreds of yoga students of varying abilities.
