Unlike a typical Vinyasa flow yoga class, Yin Yoga is active stretching where the poses are held anywhere from 3-4 minutes. It helps to change and retrain damaged structures. It targets deep connective tissues between the muscles and fascia. Lengthy holds will increase circulation in the joints and increase bone health. Toxins are stored in fascia. Yin yoga's long holds will help release these emotional and physical toxins. Committing to remaining still involves deep concentration of the body, the breath, and the mind. The teacher will take you through a guided imagery meditation throughout the class that will leave you feeling grounded like a mountain, calm like the ripples on a pond and a new peace will fill your mind and body. Please have a few pillows and blanket for final relaxation and meditation at the end of class.
