In this 2 hour workshop, we will work towards three different lyra rolls: cradle/baby rolls, lion rolls and (into to) elbow rolls, i.e skills involving rotating the torso around the bar - whee! Warm up will include great shoulder mobility and thoracic twisting exercises, as well as shoulder and core stability exercises. Rolls will include digestible break-downs and progressions, including spotting techniques to help each other.
Students should come with a long sleeved layer (ex. long sleeve shirt or sweatshirt - ideally slim fitting) or elbow protectors. A back warmer/torso covering is also advised for comfort, but a couple layers of shirts will do as well. Long slim-fitting pants are also a must.
Workshop is for intermediate to advanced students. Students should feel comfortable in twisting motions through the spine. Students should be able to perform 5-10 tricep push-ups. They should have a strong "spinning-the-cat"/hanging shoulder extension and "reverse-prone flies" or weighted "cactus arms" to demonstrate shoulder mobility and strength.
Workshop will be held in English. PACA is not wheelchair accessible. Students are welcome to take breaks throughout the workshop. Workshop skills/exercises are challenge-by-choice.
