Wisdom Library: Free LIVESTREAM Afternoon with our Himalayan Institute Community

Each month, the master teachers of the  Himalayan Institute--including Rolf Sovik, Sandra Anderson, Shari Friedrichsen, Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, and other HI faculty livestream a satsanga ("spiritual discourse," from the Sanskrit satsaṅga ‘association with good people) , Q&A, lecture, or guided practice






This is usually only available for Wisdom Library subscribers, but my teachers have granted us permission to bring this to you at our own little AHA Yoga Studio here in Lake City!  I'll be setting up a projection screen and you can come with your yoga mat and grab some props to settle in and learn some deep practices of the yoga tradition.  



The next Livestream Free Event at AHA Yoga is on Sunday, March 22, 2020, at 3 pm, for a talk on SELF-COMPASSION with senior faculty at the Himalayan Institute.  


This livestream presentation is entitled "Self-compassion As Spiritual Practice: Using Yoga and Ayurveda to Cultivate Kindness."  

You'll be led through a talk linking yoga practice (physical postures, breathwork, meditation, & More) to ayurveda (the sister science to yoga that includes diet, massage, cleansing techniques, and other ways to support health through syncing routines to natural cycles).






Compassion is the ability to have empathy for another person’s struggle and pain. It arises out of a deep understanding of life and an acceptance of human foibles; and paradoxically, it invites the person to move through their pain. Compassion is part of the healing process.

Applying this concept to ourselves is quite challenging! Many of us are self-critical even while trying our best to be loving and kind to others. And yet, self-compassion is the foundation of true empathy for others. Our capacity to see a larger picture helps us move away from reactivity and self-judgment, and respond from a place of kindness and understanding.

In this livestream presentation, Dr. Carrie Demers and Judy Moulton will discuss what yoga philosophy has to say about cultivating compassion and kindness for ourselves. They will also explore key ayurvedic practices that can fit into our daily routine, providing a nourishing foundation for a deeper understanding of personal compassion and kindness.

Both Judy Moulton & Carrie Demers are Virginia's own teachers, and helped lead her in her advanced teacher training at HI:

Board-certified in both internal medicine and integrative medicine, Carrie Demers, MD, is a holistic physician who blends modern medicine with traditional approaches to health. After receiving her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Demers went on to study massage, homeopathy, nutrition, herbal medicine, yoga, and ayurveda. She has been the medical director of the Himalayan Institute PureRejuv Wellness Center 

Judy Moulton is a Himalayan Institute certified and Yoga Alliance recognized E-RYT 500, an Ayurvedic Health Counselor registered with the National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA), and a contributor to YogaInternational.com. Judy is also the director of the Himalayan Institute's teacher certification programs

This event is FREE; please do register in advance if possible so I know how many to expect and can plan accordingly.   You are also welcome to walk-in; all are welcome. Each participant is required to sign a Waiver & Release and Terms and Conditions of Attendance for AHA Yoga, and remember your yoga mat & water.
