  • Attendees must be a member of the SDFWA, shop membership is not required

When the noise of the machinery is getting to you, turn to your knife and learn how to carve wood! This is a hobby that requires limited amount of equipment and supplies or a lot if you "get the bug."

This class is designed for the beginners who are looking for a creative outlet. Once you learn the basic skills of carving, you'll be able to tackle a wide range of projects. Make animals, ornaments, small statues, kitchen utensils.

What you will Learn:
  • Introduction to knife skills
  • Knife sharpening
  • How does the wood grain affect your knife cuts
  • Various types of cuts
Future classes will cover more complex carving subjects such as designing your carving, how to carve animals, human caricatures, habitat elements, use of gouges and power tools, relief carving and more!
