Musicality is a very broad topic with many ways to explore it.  Some people want to hit the breaks.  Some people want the quality of their movement to match the overall feel of the music.  Some people want to make their partnerwork more musical.  Maybe you just want to know how to find the one every time.  Everything we will explore here will contribute to your goals.

We will be tackling musicality from the following perspectives:

Song Structure/Phrasing/Transitions:  How to predict when the musical changes are coming

Instrumentation:  How we get our basic salsa timing in various styles of salsa

Instrumentation:  Diving into particular instrumentations over several classes to see how we can emphasize different flavors in the music with various body parts: Clave/Bass/Congas/Horns/Piano/Cowbell to name a few.

This class will tie in with our Monday classes.  Body parts explored in Monday night’s Body Mechanics class will be used in Thursday night’s musicality class.  Themes explored in Thursday night’s Musicality class will be reflected in the following Monday night’s shine class.
