Mysore style classes are open to all levels, including beginners!
Mysore classes are the traditional format for dedication, devotion, and discipline to unfold with regular practice. Students practice a set series of postures, given by the teacher, at their own pace. The teacher helps each student primarily through hands-on adjustments and verbal guidance. The sequence is learned progressively over a period of time appropriate to each individual, allowing focussed time to develop strength and flexibility. To develop a Mysore style practice we recommend that new students commit to at least 1-2 Mysore classes a week, or attend our 10 week Intro to Ashtanga Program to build a solid foundation. New students to the Mysore program can expect to spend between 30 to 45 minutes in practice, with that time gradually increasing as more of the sequence is learned and added. Self-guided practice is the way to internalize your awareness and deepen your experience and understanding of Ashtanga yoga. Mysore classes are 2-3 hour blocks of time. You are welcome to start at anytime during this block within the first hour.
