Yin yoga is a floor based 60 minute class that offers long-held, passive, meditative yoga poses, focusing on the lower body between the navel and the knees to release deeply held tension in the connective tissues and fascia.
Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep, allows you to access delta brain waves, which are responsible for the healing and restoration that occurs in the body during deep sleep. This allows the mind and body to rest while you're awake. This is practiced lying down in Savasana, with the teacher guiding a meditation involving a full body scan, bringing awareness to individual parts of the body. Other times, it may involve a guided meditation with a script, taking the yogi on a journey of the mind to withdraw the senses and reach the state of consciousness between waking and sleeping.
