Trauma-informed yoga (TIY) is an approach to the practice that specifically addresses the needs and symptoms of trauma survivors. It creates a safe and accessible space for healing from trauma, rather than triggering it. Yoga has been found to support survivors dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and complex, inter-relational traumas – from military veterans to survivors of chronic abuse. Trauma sensitive yoga practices have been shown to significantly reduce PTSD symptoms for people with complex trauma and to significantly improve quality of life. The training is intended to support building trauma informed classes as well as identifying new practices and coping skills to promote resiliency and integrate greater coping for intrusive symptoms.
Our Trauma Informed Yoga Workshop is included in the Yoga Teacher Training Program as instructors advance to the 300 Hour Certification. The workshop is also open to the public interested in a holistic science that looks at wellness as a whole: perfect health is defined as a state of balance between mind, body, spirit, and social well-being.
The 3-day class may not be cancelled on-line. Please contact Cortni for rescheduling or for extenuating circumstances.
