In this Class, we are going to learn and work on the Fundamentals of Argentine Tango. While exploring the Principles of Following and Leading, studying in progression, we will feel and discover How to Better Connect with a partner, with ourselves, with the common axis and the Floor, sharing Space and Time in the Traditional Argentine Tango Embrace/Hug; the "Abrazo". In the last 45 minutes of the Class, we will get immersed in an "Argentine Tango Essence & Cultural" experience, with a Practice guided by your Teacher Silvana Brizuela. As part of the Class, this Included Guided Practice, helps everyone move on faster in improving the Dancing and getting you Ready to Enjoy any Argentine Tango Social Dance, a.k.a "Milonga/s" in the World. We will be constantly focusing in Dance Floor Navigation, Etiquette & Codes, Musicality and overall: the Enjoyment of "Connecting and Walking Together", which is the Essence of This Dance. Born in Buenos Aires, Silvana Brizuela Weigel studied Ballet and performed at the world famous Teatro Colón, Argentina's Ballet and Opera House. Later got admitted and studied Contemporary Dance at Teatro Municipal General San Martin. While keeping the vast training at the Teatro San Martin, Silvana started learning Tango from world renown masters such as Mingo and Esther Pugliese, Pupi Castello, Natalia Games and Gabriel Angio, Rodolfo Dinzel, Gabriel Missé, Leandro Oliver and Leila Rezk, Lorena Ermocida.
She performed and taught for more than 25 years at various noteworthy venues and Festivals in Buenos Aires and USA, like "Life is Tango" Show at Thalia Theatre in Queens 2003, Boston Tango Festival since 2014, UMass Boston, Harvard University, Boston University, New York International Dance Festival 2024 at City Center, Queensboro Dance Festival 2024.
Nowadays, Silvana works on organizing events, teaching and performing mostly in New York, New Jersey, with the Tango Society of Boston at Dance Union in Somerville, etc.
Silvana is professionally trained and available to teach the original Argentinian style of Tango and folk dances like Zamba and Chacarera in both private and group settings. Her teaching style emphasizes on technique, partner connection and improvisation.
