This class is both educational and experiential. You will learn strategies to support your young child in having success in their role as a family member. We will explore different sensory systems and how to facilitate accurate processing. Focus of this class includes establishing a sense of well-being, ease in daily routines (including mealtimes, sleep) and successful peer and sibling interaction.
Sensory Integration is an unconscious process of the brain that gives us meaning to what is experienced. It allows us to act or respond to a situation we experience in a purposeful manner. It forms an underlying foundation for academic learning and social behavior (Sensory Integration and the Child, pg. 5) Ayres, J.A. (2005)
