A monthly advanced practice guided by rotating teachers, each bringing their own wisdom, focus, and artistry.
Build A Better Backbend
Transform your relationship with backbending through intelligent sequencing, targeted mobility work, and a deeper understanding of what makes these poses both accessible and sustainable.
Backbends require more than flexibility—they demand coordinated opening through the front body, spinal articulation, and supportive strength. In this workshop, we'll break down the essential elements that allow you to move into extension with confidence and ease.
We'll explore:
Hip flexor, shoulder, and chest opening to create space in the front body
Spinal mobility techniques that distribute the backbend across more of your spine
Technical refinements and alignment principles for a variety of backbends
Breath and pacing strategies to help you find sustainable depth
Whether you're working toward your first urdhva dhanurasana (wheel pose) or refining backbends you've practiced for years, you'll gain practical tools and body awareness to approach these shapes with greater skill and enjoyment.
This workshop welcomes all levels of practitioner with an interest in backbending. Variations and progressive options will be offered throughout.
