Restorative yoga is a very gentle yoga practice which focuses on physical and mental relaxation. Using blocks, bolsters and blankets in seated and supine (lying down) yoga positions, the poses are held for several minutes, allowing the body to stretch in a more passive, more gentle manner. Restorative Yoga has been known to help reduce pain, improve digestion, calm the mind, improve sleep and help individuals feel more grounded and energized. Restorative yoga is good for individuals recovering from certain illness and injuries…and can also be an excellent complement to a more active yoga practice.
